Fireweed, I am happy to find it popping up
in various places in my yard. This one came
up where I planted a cardinal flower!

Friday, September 25, 2009

It was difficult for me to get a good shot of these guys,
they aren't very big and this is the first time I felt the
pictures actually captured them.
This is the Canary Flower (Tropaolum canariens),
it is a creeping vine, a wanderer.
Lovely little flowers aren't they?
It will grow anywhere happily but only in the summer
if you get some cold, it's gone!

Nasturtium growing next to red cabbage.
I have been trying to capture this combo repeatedly.
This picture does it justice!

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

There are a couple of different flowers in this picture;
Crocosmi and Marsh Mallow and the lovely power line!
I enjoy the upward angle, makes for an interesting picture don't ya think!

Monday, September 14, 2009

This plant combination was purely by chance
as the tomato was a volunteer.
Did you notice the fly that snuck into the picture?

Sunday, September 13, 2009

You all know this one, I thought the quality of this picture
wasn't the greatest but just the same I love the this picture.
Strawberries grow everywhere!

Saturday, September 12, 2009

I thought it would be interesting to show you another
Geum to compare to the other one.
Growing in the PNW, some are hardy enough to grow in AK.

Friday, September 11, 2009

I thought I'd break from tradition today and show you
what else thrives in my garden.
This is Brutus amidst the hawkweed and daises.

Thursday, September 10, 2009

I'm pretty sure we all know what this is!
Loved by children, loathed by most adults!
Grows everywhere you don't want it to!

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

I've been growing this fine perennial for years
but today I cannot remember what it is!

Grows everywhere.

Thursday, September 3, 2009

This is the Torch aka Mexican Sunflower aka Tithonia Rotundifolia.
The picture on the left is how it looks in its natural state, the one on the right
is an edited picture. I was playing around with an editing tool at Picnik, I thought
this edited flower was amazing also.
Growing in the PNW.

Angels Trumpet (Burgmansias). A fragrant, beautiful
and highly poisonous flower.
Growing in Ballard, WA. Will grow anywhere in
the USA in a container if brought inside during the cold.

This tree was absolutely fascinating.
I think this is the Indian Horse Chestnut,
growing in Ballard at the Carl S. English Botanical Gardens.
