These were planted in spring and the carrots became HUGE
as did some of the beets.
I read this is from poor watering.
The long skinny beet is a variety called Crapaudine and is considered
to be the oldest beet variety still in existence. I bought my seeds
from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, organic and non gmo.
It is better to roast this beet then to steam or boil where it becomes
too soft/mushy.
The larger beets were just beautiful don't ya think?
A cameo visit by me and my dog oh and a huge beet.
