My cherished Winter Daphne is not liking this winter treatment.

 Summer sunshine, at least that's what I'm dreaming of.

Rudbeckia is a valued plant in my yard, doesn’t matter which
variety it is as long as it’s there.

This past summer was my first time for really growing poppies
and I found them to be fantastic. So many colors to entice
me in and the bees and bugs just loved visiting them.
Simply beautiful.

Those rosehips look fantastic in our cloudy weather
but those green green weeds take the cake!
Even though they are weeds I appreciate that they are
standout green and they do add
color to a winter’s day.

this is. I belive its a wild Astilbe or is it a Goatsbeard?



Perennial Honesty
A native to Europe, it grows where it wants without being
a rude guest. Beautiful purple flowers adorn it during the summer
with those flowers turning into these magnificent seed pods.
This is actually the inside of the seed pod where the seeds attach, the seed
covering must be removed to show the papery liner.
My first introduction to this plant was as money plant,
no matter the name as I enjoy the plant.

Guara is a sun loving perennial that does quite well
in our rainy climate, most of the time.
It is a beautiful flower.

I can see why this flower goes by the name Queen of the Prairie.

The UGLY truth of gardening is that not everything
goes just right.

LIGULARIA The Rocket is quite the stately flower.

Crocosmia lucifer is a stand out plant don’t ya think?
The hummingbirds absolutely love these flowers.

This hummingbird was feeding on the crocosmia,
you can hear it chirping at me along with the
road noise.
Now who knows which hummingbird this is?

I love the colors in this photo.
Guara is the light pink and the deeper one looks to be  a Japanese Anemone.

Knautia Macedonia with common ragwort

 Common ragwort growing amidst the knautia macedonia, the ragwort
was cut down and dug out after flowering. As the ragwort grew the plant was
quite pretty as it grew but I had no idea what it was. Once it flowered it
was quite easy to find out what it was by doing an internet search for a
yellow weed. How sad to know such a pretty plant is so harmful
to people and animals. I will have to keep a vigilant eye out for it next spring.
Thankfully the knautia is quite pretty and a pleasure to grow as long as
you put toward the back of the flowerbed. It may not be the tallest flower (2 ft)
but it is floppy and looks better hanging through other plants and flowers.

The blog is on hold for a few days while we recover from too much rain!

The beautyberry is looking wonderful still, it’s nice to have color
during the gray times.

These lovely weeds are brought to you by my garden! Ah the common weedy thistle apparently loving my yard, I mean these
are some healthy looking weeds. I’ve been meaning to dig them out but just look at them, aren’t they stunning?  I don’t like working outside in the winter rains and those soggy soils. According to herbs2000.com it can be a valuable food source along
with herbal uses.

When I planted the yellow primroses last spring they
were in full flower and quite pretty. Never did I expect
them to flower in the fall and especially during and after
our recent snow. TA DA here is my primrose flowering away.

What an interesting combination, a nasturtium and a
cosmos side by side. I’m enjoying the lacey shadow

So far my Christmas Cactus has flowered beautifully for me.

Right now is one of those times and I just love this plant.

My new bark path is filling with weeds this fall,
I thought the point of a bark path
was to keep the weeds down?!
Oh well, those weeds providing me with some beauty
on a frosty morning.
